Pascal Co-Founders Join Prestigious Activate Fellowship

June 8, 2023

We're excited to announce that Pascal's co-founders have been selected to join the 2023 cohort of Activate Fellows in Boston! This prestigious fellowship supports the most promising scientist-entrepreneurs in bringing their groundbreaking technologies to market.

Accelerating Our Mission Through Activate

The Activate Fellowship provides a unique two-year immersive experience designed specifically for scientists and engineers transforming their research into commercial innovations. As part of the Boston community of fellows, our team gains access to funding, mentorship, and a powerful network of industry leaders, investors, and partners who share our vision for a more sustainable future.

This support comes at a critical time as we work to advance our solid refrigerant technology from laboratory concept to commercial reality. The fellowship will help us navigate the challenges of scaling our innovation while connecting us with resources specifically tailored to deep-tech startups.

Joining an Elite Community of Innovators

Activate Fellows represent some of the most innovative minds working on solutions to our world's most pressing challenges. The program is highly selective—for context, the 2024 cohort accepted just 62 fellows from a pool of over 1,000 applicants.

By joining this community, our co-founders Adam Slavney, Jarad Mason, and Jinyoung Seo are positioned to accelerate Pascal's development alongside fellow entrepreneurs who are similarly dedicated to creating meaningful impact through science and technology.

Advancing Climate-Friendly Cooling

Pascal's innovative solid refrigerant technology addresses a critical climate challenge: conventional refrigerant leaks contribute significantly to global warming—more than the entire aviation industry. Our approach uses new refrigerants which stay solid throughout the refrigeration cycle, preventing these harmful emissions while potentially doubling the efficiency of conventional systems.

The Activate Fellowship aligns perfectly with our mission to develop cooling systems that are not only environmentally friendly but also economically compelling.

Looking Ahead

With the support of the Activate Fellowship, we're focused on transforming our technology from an academic breakthrough to a commercially viable prototype. This critical phase of development will allow us to demonstrate our solid refrigerant technology at relevant scales and move toward commercial applications, beginning with refrigeration systems.

As we advance our technology, we plan to begin raising our seed funding round in Spring 2024 to accelerate our development timeline and build out our team of experts in materials science and thermal engineering. The Activate Fellowship's emphasis on "empowering scientists to reinvent the world" resonates deeply with our mission to create the next generation of cooling. We're honored to be part of this community and excited to leverage this opportunity to bridge the gap between laboratory discovery and market-ready products that can make a meaningful climate impact.

Stay tuned for updates as we continue our journey to build the next generation of cooling.
